Grousemont Foundation supports many organizations in the Puget Sound region working to enrich lives and improve our community. Our 2016 Fall Cycle which focused on Arts & Culture/Arts Education, supported various organizations for a total of $150k. In addition, the foundation’s G3 Grantmaking Committee contributed a total of $30k in 2016 to organizations that were of key interest to this generation.
Arts Impact – Empowering Teachers to Teach the Arts
Arts Impact is committed to building key 21st Century Skills for both teachers and students that include creativity, collaboration, communication, and critical thinking, all vital to closing the opportunity gap.
We believe including the arts in basic education teaches to the whole child, engages all learning modalities, and leads to the development of powerful learning habits.
Arts Impact brings high quality arts education experiences to students by empowering classroom teachers to use the arts in their day-to-day teaching. Through a two-year program, Arts Impact offers classes, workshops, and mentorships enabling teachers to bring dance, theater, and visual arts into their classrooms and their core curriculum.
Frye Art Museum – Youth Art Education Programs Pre – K-12
The Frye Art Museum inspires learners of all ages and educators in every phase of their careers with programs that engage the imagination, encourage observation and expression, promote critical and creative thinking, and invite reflection. Programs such as Field Trips to the museum, Guided tour + Art-making, Story-telling + Art, Art In Your Classroom are all programs offered FREE or at significantly reduced rates.
Seattle Art Museum – SAM School Partnership Program
An innovative model in which museum educators work one on one with individual schools to bring arts infused learning to every classroom. SAM’s School Partnership Program advances SAM’s commitment to transform student learning and teaching practices throughout our region and ensure that all students have equitable access to quality arts education. The partnerships involve individual and customized work with schools to implement a holistic and sustainable model that integrates the arts across all disciplines and subjects as a strategy to increase student and family engagement.
Book-It Repertory Theater – Arts & Education Program
The theater’s mission is to transform great literature into great theatre through simple and sensitive production and to inspire our audiences to read. Book-It’s Arts and Education Program mission is to provide an interactive relationship between youth and literature through diverse theatrical productions and educational programs that promote the joy of reading, enhance student and teacher learning, and inspire the imagination.
Arts Corps – Arts Integration Through Teaching Artist Residencies
Arts Corps is a force in reshaping the culture of our city to one that is more inclusive, more creative and more just. This innovative program deepens classroom engagement by teaming teachers with Arts Corps’ teaching artists to integrate art projects into writing lessons.
Pacific Northwest Ballet – Discover Dance Residencies
PNB’s Education programs seek to engage the community though programs and partnerships that provide access and equity. PNB views dance as a fundamental part of education and life. We believe every child and adult has the ability and merit to participate. Throughout the 2014-2015 season, PNB reached 22,785 students, teachers, and families through in-school programming, visits to PNB studios, specially-priced student matinees, and community partnerships. Discover Dance is the largest, most comprehensive program within PNB’s educational offerings. All programmatic elements of Discover Dance are available to any school in the area.
